- Acknowledge the hours. Most coaches aren't paid for half the time they put in. Saying "I see what you put in" matters more than complimenting the wins.
- Compliment them in front of the team. Especially at end-of-season — a parent or player publicly thanking the coach gives them validation in front of the kids they coached. Doubles the impact.
- Be specific about a moment. "Great coach" is forgettable. "The way you handled [specific team moment]" is what they'll remember.
- Send a written note at season's end. Hand-written cards from players and parents get saved for decades by coaches. We're not exaggerating.
