- Point at the specific thing. "You look good" → "That jacket with those pants." Specificity tells them you actually noticed.
- Compliment the choice, not the result. "You're attractive" focuses on them; "the way you put that outfit together" focuses on their decision-making. The decision-compliment is more flattering.
- Don't only do it when they're dressed up. The compliment for the random-Tuesday casual fit hits harder than the compliment for the wedding outfit. Lower expectations, higher leverage.
